CAPTAIN: Into the lifeboat, gentlemen. I’m afraid our ship has had
it.
LIEUTENANT: Yes, sir. I’ll man the tiller — Jenkins, you man the
oars.
JENKINS: Right, sir. Is it, uh, too soon to ask when we might eat,
sir?
CAPTAIN: When we might WHAT?
JENKINS: Well, it helps to know these things, sir.
CAPTAIN: Our ship has just gone down, Jenkins, with massive loss of
life!
LIEUTENANT: And now we’re stranded in a lifeboat, miles from
anywhere!
JENKINS: I know, sir, it’s just that I skipped breakfast. Stupid of
me, I know, sir.
LIEUTENANT: That WAS bloody stupid, Jenkins! Don’t you know
breakfast is the most important meal of the day?
JENKINS: I know that now, sir. Won’t make that mistake again, sir.
